Narrative Text #1

Hi there! we are now back on another chapter of this blog. we are now going to talk about Narrative Text. Narrative text is a text that tells about sequence of events in the past. According to Barbara as cited in Khusnul (2017), the purposes of narrative text are to entertain, to express the feelings, to inform and to persuade the readers.

we are now going to talk about Keumalahayati.

Keumalahayati
Keumalahayati is a female warrior from the Sultanate of Aceh. She is the daughter of Mahmud Shah, an admiral. In 1585-1604, he held the position of Head of the Palace Guards, the Secret Commander and Commander of Government Protocol from Sultan Saidil Mukammil Alauddin Riayat Syah IV.
This Tough woman led 2,000 Inong Bale troops (widows of fallen heroes) to fight against Dutch ships and forts on September 11, 1599. In that battle she succeeded in killing Cornrlis de Houtman in a one-on-one battle on the ship's deck. Thanks to his bravery, he received the title of Admiral.
Reportedly, the formation of an army of women, all of whom were widows and called the Inong Bale fleet, was reportedly Malahayati's idea. That is, so that the widows can avenge the death of their husbands. Malahayati's own husband died in the battle against the Portuguese. Inong Bale's troops have a stronghold and the remains of their base are still in Kreung Raya Bay.
On July 21, 1599, two Dutch ships led by two brothers Coernelis de Houtman and Fedrick de Houtman anchored peacefully in Aceh. They did not expect when Admiral Malahayati attacked their two ships. During the attack, Cournelis de Haoutman and several of his men were killed. Meanwhile, Fedrick de Haoutman was taken prisoner and thrown into the resistance of the Kingdom of Aceh.
Another important event during Malahayati's time as Admiral was when he sent three envoys to the Netherlands, namely Abdoelhamid, Sri Muhammad, and Mir Hasan. The three of them were the first ambassadors from an empire in Asia that upheld the Netherlands.
